SECTION: News Mississauga parents say they'll show up at St. Richard's separate
school today to make sure their children don't get exposed to a potentially
deadly "toxic mould." About 300 of the elementary school's 775 pupils could wind up
in the library instead of portable classrooms. The parents are worried about possible harm to their kids if
they inhale spores of the fungus Stachybotrys atra. A study found a "suggestion" of Stachybotrys atra in one of the
portables at the school on Copehagen Rd.in Meadowvale. Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board officials told parents
in the school's gym yesterday that one portable classroom where the
mould was detected is now safe to use, but parents want lab testing
done in all the portables. KEYWORDS: SCHOOL; SAFETY; ONTARIO © Copyright 1999 from The Toronto Sun unauthorized reproduction prohibited.
