Renter's Toxic Mold

It can grow anywhere, and make you quite sick. Toxic mold is a serious health risk no one should have to live with. So how can you tell if the mold growing in your home is the harmless or toxic type?

Don't expect much help from the San Diego Department of Public Health. Before our investigation, they didn't even provide printed material on mold problems. We convinced them to create a pamphlet designed to provide some basic information on toxic mold, and what you can't do about it. They've posted the same information on their website. To view it, click here: Mold Information.

But what if you rent your home? NEWS 8 renters told us cries to landlords often fall on deaf ears. If you're a renter with a mold problem, there are several things you can do.

First, make your landlord aware of the problem, and ask him to fix it. If the landlord doesn't take action, file a complaint with your city's building inspection office. And if the problem persists, consider moving. Mold can create a serious health problem. You don't want to stay in a situation that might compromise your health.
